EL8 Support in NAF¶

We currently do not provide any Execute Points running any EL8 flavors and have no intention to do so in the future.

Though if you need to run EL8 based workflows there are some ways to do so

Use containers¶

See apptainer support in BIRD for the general usage of containers

Whenever possible use 'unpacked' container images as these only load the part of the image that is actually needed into memory !

Here is a popular image from CMS e.g.

EL8 for CMS user¶

if you are submitting on behalf of the CMS group and want your jobs to be execute inside the CMS EL8 production container stated above simply put this in your submit file:

requestOpSysandVer = CMS_EL8
